In a conversation with a colleague, we were talking about the ways one would know that someone would be a valuable team member.
Among other things, we agreed that the following would be powerful indicators of the team member we would like work with — and be ourselves.
We/they would say (in no particular order):
- “What if …?”
- “This stinks — and here’s what we might try to make it better”
- “I screwed that up royally — and here is what I learned …”
- “Let me show you …”
- “I’m curious …”
- “I could use your help”
- “Great job!”
- “Thank you.”
